BREAKING: ADELEKE DOES IT AGAIN! DANCING GOVERNOR CRUSHES APC TO RETAIN OSUN THRONE
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke winner of the 2026 Osun governorship election after defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.
Wins By Over 66,000 Votes In Fierce 30-LGA Battle
It’s official! Osun has spoken!
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, floored his challenger with 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes, while *African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came a distant third with *17,180 votes.
The declaration came after collation of results from all 30 local government areas following Saturday’s tension-soaked election, handing Adeleke a decisive winning margin of 66,252 votes.
The dancing governor showed dominance across key battlegrounds, sweeping victories in Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife East, Ife South, Egbedore, Oriade, Odo Otin, Ila, Orolu, Ife Central, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Boluwaduro, Iwo and Ifelodun.
Oyebamiji put up a strong fight, claiming wins in Irewole, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Obokun, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Atakumosa West, Olaoluwa and Olorunda*, but it was not enough to stop the Adeleke tsunami.
A total of 15 political parties contested the election, while 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards were collected, according to information provided by the electoral commission.
Adeleke, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party after winning his first term in 2022 on the party’s platform, had campaigned on his administration’s record in infrastructure, pension payments, healthcare, the economy and digital transformation.
Speaking about his administration’s record before the election, Adeleke said, “Osun is no longer offline. Osun is awake—digitally and economically.”
He added, “We pay what is owed. We respect those who served. This is not politics. This is performance. This is leadership with results. Osun is rising—and we are not turning back.”
The governor had also raised concerns over alleged attempts to disrupt the election and promised to establish an independent commission of inquiry into reported killings and violence associated with the electioneering period.
With INEC’s declaration, Adeleke secures another mandate to govern Osun State after defeating Oyebamiji and the other candidates who contested the poll.
