U.S. JUDGE BLOCKS GREENSPAN: NO DISCOVERY AGAINST TINUBU, DCI GROUP

GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia denies Aaron Greenspan’s motion for limited discovery against President Bola Tinubu and DCI Group in FOIA case.
REASON FOR DENIAL
– Court rules in October 30 decision that alleged cyberattacks on Greenspan’s website are not relevant to the FOIA dispute with FBI and DEA.
– Judge insists case must stay focused on FOIA issues only.
LEGAL REACTION
– Attorney Christopher W. Carmichael hails ruling as a clear message that FOIA proceedings cannot be hijacked for unrelated discovery.
DOUBLE BLOW FOR GREENSPAN
– Court also denies nonparty Karl Von Batten’s request to file amicus curiae brief.
– Greenspan’s request for judicial notice also thrown out.
Additionally, the Court denied Greenspan’s motion for summary judgment.
“The Court also denied the plaintiff’s motion for summary judgement and rejected a separate request to introduce an amicus brief,” said Attorney Oluwole Afolabi. “While the underlying FOIA issues remain before the Court, these rulings establish important procedural boundaries and clarify which matters are appropriate for consideration in this litigation”.
