GREATRIBUNTVNEWS–The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has successfully commissioned its 110MVA power transformer project in Isolo, Lagos, adding 88MW to the national grid. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, revealed this during the project’s commissioning, praising the CBN, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and other stakeholders for their contributions.
The project is expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s economy, particularly in Lagos, a critical economic hub. It aims to enhance electricity supply, reduce operational challenges, promote economic growth, and create job opportunities.
According to Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, Managing Director of TCN, the project will expand and enhance the nation’s transmission grid, increasing TCN’s capacity to transmit bulk electricity. The 110MVA transformer is the first Service Level Agreement (SLA) project to be commissioned in TCN.
With this project, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) will be able to transmit more power to critical areas, including Airport Road, Ajao Estate, and Isolo Local Council. This will lead to improved electricity supply reliability and capacity in Lagos, benefiting residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
