GREATRIBUNTVNEWS–8 states in Nigeria have fully implemented the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) 20 years after the Pension Reform Act 2004 was enacted, according to the Director-General of the National Pension Commission, Mrs. Omolola Oloworaran.
Oloworaran expressed disappointment over the lack of attention given to the pension scheme by most state governments during a media conference in Lagos. She emphasized the need for all state governments to pass the requisite pension law and fully implement the CPS for workers in their employ.
The National Pension Commission will continue to pursue avenues to ensure the implementation of the scheme, including possibly advising the central government to deduct workers’ pension from monthly allocations to state governments. This move aims to create a sustainable living for workers after their active service.
