TINUBU RENAMES UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA IN HONOR OF YAKUBU GOWON

GREATRIBUNTVNEWS–Nigerian Government has renamed the University of Abuja after former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, in recognition of his significant contributions to nation-building. The institution will now be known as Yakubu Gowon University .
This decision was announced by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after the last Federal Executive Council meeting for the year 2024, chaired by President Bola Tinubu. The proposal will be sent to the National Assembly for formal approval .
General Yakubu Gowon, who recently marked his 90th birthday, played a crucial role in Nigeria’s history, serving as Head of State from 1966 to 1975. His leadership helped shape the country’s unity and development .
