GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced a revised immigration visa process for Nigerian applicants, effective January 1, 2025. Under the new guidelines, applicants with scheduled interviews will be required to visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice during the application process .
The first visit will be for an In-Person Document Review with a consular staff member. This review aims to ensure applicants are prepared for their visa interviews and allows them to retrieve any missing documents ahead of time, preventing delays in application processing.
The second visit will be the Visa Interview itself, conducted by a Consular Officer. The National Visa Center (NVC) will schedule the date for this interview. It’s essential to complete the In-Person Document Review before the visa interview, as failure to do so may require rescheduling the appointment.
This revised process is designed to help applicants prepare for their visa interviews and minimize delays in processing immigrant visas. The US Embassy in Nigeria had previously announced a transition to a new visa services provider for its Abuja and Lagos consulates, which took effect on August 26, 2024 .
