NIGER STATE POLICE RESCUE 19 KIDNAPPED TRAVELERS

A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in Niger State as police successfully freed 19 travelers kidnapped by suspected kidnappers. The incident occurred on November 1, 2024, when a Toyota Bus with registration number LG 08 DGS, traveling from Sokoto to Bayelsa, was attacked at Gidan-Kwakwa along the Tegina-Zungeru road .
The Rescue Operation
Upon receiving information about the kidnapping, a joint security tactical team was dispatched to track down the kidnappers. The team’s pursuit led to the kidnappers abandoning 12 captives, who were rescued on Saturday morning in the Pangugari forest, Rafi Local Government Area . Later that day, at around 9 p.m., the remaining seven captives were also rescued, uninjured, in the same forest.
Aftermath
The rescued victims received medical attention at a nearby clinic and were released to return to Sokoto State on November 3, 2024 . This successful rescue operation brings relief to the families of the kidnapped travelers and highlights the efforts of the Niger State Police Command in combating kidnapping and ensuring public safety.
