COVID-19 :OGUN EXTENDS LOCKDOWN BY ANOTHER ONE WEEK
Following an upsurge in the number of confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Ogun state, the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun,has ordered the extension of the lockdown in the state by one week, for the second time.
The governor who made the announcement while addressing journalists at the his office,in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta,said the move became necessary following reports that many people have shown utter disregard for the precautionary guidelines and International best practices and safety measures rolled out to curtail the spread of the disease,especially during the relaxation of the lockdown.
Governor Abiodun said these disregards to standard safety measures must have led to the daily increase in the number of confirmed cases in the state.
Abiodun however stated that the relaxation window of Monday,Wednesday and Friday would still remain.
He also threatened to deal with those smuggling people in and outside of the state in disregard to the interstate border closure, he said anyone found culpable will be treated for charged for committing a crime against the state government and would be made to face the full wrath of the Law.
