BAYO LAWAL IS OYO ACTING GOV AS MAKINDE GOES ON VACATION
History was made on Thursday as the newly sworn in Oyo State Deputy Governor Bayo LAWAL as the State Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state The Governor said he has transmitted power to the Deputy Governor,
Engr Makinde has notified the Oyo state House of Assembly that he was proceeding on vacation from Thursday 11th of August till Friday 2nd of September, 2022.
The speaker, Rt Hon Debo Ogundoyin disclosed this on Thursday during the plenary while reading message from the executive.
According to the letter, Makinde is expected to resume on Saturday, 3rd of September, 2022
While he is away, his deputy, Bayo Lawal, will be serving as the acting governor.
Since the beginning of the current 4th Republic, this is the first time a governor of Oyo State would be going on a vacation and transmitting power to the deputy governor to serve as acting governor.
Lawal, who was sworn in as Deputy Governor some weeks ago, has won many people’s heart with his loyalty to his principal and the way he had turned a moribund Oyo Housing Corporation into an aesthetic edifice.
He was first picked as Governor Makinde’s running mate in 2023 general election before his appointment as Oyo Deputy Governor following the impeachment of Rauf Olaniyan who defected to All Progressives Congress
