FEC APPROVES SAKI 2×60 MVA SUBSTATION 15 OTHER CONTRACTS TO BOOST POWER TRANSMISSION
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has finally approved 2x60MVA Saki City substation in Oyo state plus other 15 contracts aimed at increasing powertransmission and distribution capacity in Nigeria.
Power Minister Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu briefed House correspondents after an extraordinary FEC meeting chaired by Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday at the Abuja Presidential Village.
He said that the main problem in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) was the ability to evacuate enough electricity and distribute it.
“The contract award was approved for a 2x 60 MVA 132 / 33KV substation in Ikare-Akoro and a 2-bay extension in Oke-agbe in Ondo state; It has a dollar component and a Naira component, 9.9 million dollars and N2.4 billion.
“The other is the supply of 62 hilux vehicles and 20 SUVs, these will be used for operations; for the supervision and surveillance of more than 8,000 km of network lines throughout the country. It is N2.7 billion.
“The next is the acquisition of 1500 drums of oil for transformers; It is also at the national level; It is used for the maintenance of transformers at a cost of N322.5 million.
“Next is the supply of Sergi Transformer fire and explosion protection devices; It is also at the national level; has a euro component of 5.3 million euros and a naira component of 347.6 million naira. ”
He said another approval was for the construction of a 132 KV double-circuit line in the cities of Ikere-Ijesa-Isu-Ilupeju in Ado-Ekiki, Ekiti state.
According to him, the contract has a dollar component of $ 30.8 million and a Naira component of N8.3 billion.
He said the sixth was the construction of new National Grid Control Centers in Oshogbo.
“You know that we have a national control center where everything on the network is controlled; that’s where power is distributed; And if there is any closure, that is where it is being done in Oshogbo, across the nation; so we want to expand it to make it work better.
“So this contract seeks to do it; and we want to add another one in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
“So, here there are two contracts; one in Oshogbo and one for the FCT – Oshogbo has a cost of N1.168 billion while one of FCT N1.161 billion.
“Another is the supply of 180 grounding equipment nationwide; It also has a Euro component of € 686,000 and a Naira component of Naira 41.4 million. ”
Aliyu listed other approvals such as 330KV double line to the Mando substation in Kaduna at N893 million; construction of 2X60MVA, 132 / 33KV substation in Ogbomosho and extension of 2X 132KV lines in Ganmo substation in Ilorin for 5.3 million euros and Naira component of N467.7 million.
More of; mentioned the contracts for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of 330/132/33 KV transmission lines in Lekki, Lagos state, at a cost of N4.3 billion and N2.8 billion – LOT 1 and LOT 2.
“Then, the construction of the 2x60MVA substation in the city of Saki in Oyo state; it has components; one is $ 9.9 million and the Naira component is Naira 2.2 billion.
“Repairs to the 100MVA 132KV power transformer at Ughelli, Delta: two components, $ 416,000 and N82 million.
“Then, the construction of 20 kilometers of 132KV Okegbe-Ikare-Akoko transmission line – two components – 3.75 million dollars and the Naira component is N690.5 million.
“Construction of a 90-kilometer 132KV Iseyin-Saki transmission line in Kwara; the dollar component is $ 10.7 million; Naira’s component is Naira 3.3 billion.
“Expansion for the construction of the 2X60MVA 132/33 KVA substation in Malumfashi and the extension of the bay of the 4X132KV line in Kankara in the state of Katsina; Naira’s component is only at N176.5 million, ” he said.
The minister also recorded the supply and delivery of four primary and secondary injection test stations across the country for 3.86 million euros and a Naira component of N212.4 million.
