
IPI NIGERIA BOLSTERS PRESS FREEDOM EFFORTS WITH APPOINTMENT OF 29 MEDIA PROFESSIONALS TO KEY COMMITTEES
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–THE International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria has announced the appointment of 29 prominent media personalities to its standing committees, aimed at promoting press freedom and responsible journalism in Nigeria. The appointees will serve on four core committees: Fundraising, Programming, Advocacy, and Membership.

Committee Breakdown:
– Fundraising Committee: Led by Mrs. Funke Egbemode, former President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, this committee includes editors and media executives such as Alhaji Yusuf Alli of The Nation and Juliet Bumah of New Telegraph.
– Programming Committee: Chaired by Mr. Oladotun Oladipo of The Eagle Online, this committee will oversee the development of impactful programs and initiatives, featuring members like Hajia Sani of Voice of Nigeria and investigative journalist Dayo Aiyetan.
– Advocacy Committee: Led by Tobi Soniyi, Media Adviser to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, this committee will coordinate IPI’s policy influence efforts, engaging stakeholders on media rights and protections, with experts like Fred Ohwahwa, David Ajikobi of Africa Check, and Danlami Nmodu of Newsdiaryonline.
– Membership Committee: Ruqayyah Yusuf Aliyu of Bayero University Kano will chair this committee, overseeing recruitment and member engagement strategies, alongside members like Fidelis Mbah of Al Jazeera and Naziru Abubakar, a UK-based PhD fellow.
IPI Nigeria’s president, Musikilu Mojeed, stated that these appointments reflect the organization’s commitment to deepening collaboration, ensuring sustainability, and defending press freedom in Nigeria’s challenging media environment .
