GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Suspected Islamic State in the Sahel Province (ISSP) jihadists ambushed a military-escorted supply convoy in northern Mali, killing at least 40 civilians.
The attack occurred along the Ansongo-Gao axis, near Kobe, a volatile area frequently targeted by armed groups linked to ISSP and Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM).
The convoy was carrying essential supplies when it came under heavy gunfire.
The assailants used explosive devices and automatic weapons, destroying five vehicles and killing dozens of civilians.
This incident is the latest in a series of attacks by ISSP and other jihadist groups in the region.
The Malian military has been struggling to contain the insurgency, which has led to widespread human rights abuses and displacement of civilians.
The attack has raised concerns about the security situation in Mali, which has been plagued by instability and violence since 2012.
The international community has been working to support the Malian government in its efforts to combat terrorism and restore stability to the region.
