GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, despite facing criticism for his policies. During a meeting with stakeholders from the south-east geopolitical zone in Enugu, Tinubu emphasized that the removal of petrol subsidy was a necessary step to secure the country’s future and protect the interests of future generations .
Tinubu acknowledged that his decision would attract insults and criticism, but expressed confidence in his ability to gather a good team and build a nation. He urged Nigerians to show love for their country and shun negative comments, saying, “It is our country. We have to work really hard for it; to build a nation that we can be proud of” ².
The president’s visit to Enugu was his first official trip to the state, where he inaugurated several projects, including:
– 30 Smart Green Schools: designed to provide modern learning facilities for students
– 60 Completed Type 2 Primary Health Centres: aimed at improving access to healthcare services
– 19-Kilometre Airport-New Haven–Bisalla and Okpara Square Roads: intended to enhance transportation infrastructure in the state
Tinubu’s defense of his policies comes amid ongoing debates about the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the Nigerian economy and citizens.
