GREATTRIBUNETVNEWS–Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has revealed that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) produced by the newly reopened Port Harcourt Refinery is ₦75 per litre higher than that sold by the Dangote Refinery.
According to PETROAN’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, while Dangote Refinery sells petrol to marketers at ₦970 per litre, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) sells at ₦1,045 per litre.
Obele expressed concern over the pricing disparity, stating that the ₦75 difference is a significant margin for businesses, particularly in an industry where profitability depends on competitive pricing.
However, Obele welcomed the reopening of the Port Harcourt Refinery as a significant step towards reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products. He also revealed that NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, has promised to address the pricing issue and harmonise prices to mitigate the impact on marketers and consumers.
