MAJOR ENERGIES MARKETERS SAYS FUEL SCARCITY WILL DISAPPEAR WEEKEND
The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN)says fuel scarcity currently being experienced in most parts of the country will ease off at the weekend.
Chairman of the oil marketers,Mr. Huub Stockman,who gave the assurance at a web press conference on Tuesday,tied the development to expected improved product supply and coordinated strategies by his members.
He hinted that the association’s members in Apapa and other locations in Lagos are taking product from 8vessels this week with over 300million litres of Premium Motor Sprit, above the normal level.
According to him,the association is actively coordinating with our member companies through swaps and other supply arrangements to ensure member stations remain stocked.
He disclosed that his members’ depots will extend their loading times to ensure we load out as much as we can including tomorrow the 1stof May2024.
He added:”Our partners in Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners,NARTO and Petroleum Tanker Drivers,PTD have assured us of their support in ensuring the product gets to the retail outletssafely and quickly. We also will extend the openingtimes of
selectedretail outletsto ensure we can service our customers as long and as safelypossible.Independentmarketers(depots & stations)are being allocated additional PMS to alleviatethe situation.

Emphasizing with Nigerians over frustrating situation of the fuel squeeze,Stokman,also stated that the downstream regulator,Nigerian Midstream snd Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority,NMDPRA and other key stakeholdersacross the supply chain arefully engaged and supportive to eliminatethe queues as swiftly as possible.
He reiterated that the association’s top priority is to restore stability and ensure that fuel supplies reach all depots and retail outlets across Nigeria promptly.
Stokman,who is also theanaging Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Retail Limited, who reassure the public that there is an adequate supply of PMS available,said it was not true that the company has adjusted its pump price upward on account of the product scarcity.
