LCC ROUTE PATROL OFFICERS STOP MAN ALLEGEDLY INTOXICATED STAGGERING ON THE ETI-OSA LEKKI-EPE EXPRESSWAY FROM BEING RUN-OVER
The Route patrol team of the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) while on their daily patrol, averted a road mishap when they prevented a young man who was alleged intoxicated from being hit or run-over by vehicles on the Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The incident which took place on Wednesday, 27th December 2023, around 5pm at the Jakande area of the Expressway inwards Chisco Intersection.
The young man who was seen to be allegedly highly intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol or other substances was observed to be staggering and rolling by the road side close to the carriage way of the Expressway not mindful or conscious of the moving vehicles.
While on their routine patrol, the attention of the LCC team was drawn to the young man as they mobilised and rescued him successfully from the roadside of the Expressway. He was assisted and placed at a spot under close surveillance until it was certain he was conscious of his surroundings.
The young man, whose identity or contact could not be ascertained, was later allowed to leave when he gained conscious of his surroundings and was steady on his feet.
The Head of Route and Incident Management for LCC, Michael Aina, said his team saw the man rolling on the hard shoulder and quickly pulled him off the road. “Thanks to the quick intervention of our team, the man would have been run-over by vehicles in a busy place like Jakande and his family would have been grieving their loved one during this festive period” Aina said.
LCC wish to appeal to all road users, especially during this festive period, to always apply caution and avoid acts capable of putting their lives and the lives of others at risk.
