COVID 19: OKERE OF SAKI ALERTS SUBJECTS ON DANGER OF COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION
Just as the duo of Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) and Governor Seyi Makinde in Twitter posts on Thursday confirmed additional 56 new cases of Coronavirus in Oyo State with Saki West having the highest number of 14 infected cases ,the traditional ruler of Saki, His Royal Majesty Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo 111,the Okere of Saki has alerted the generality of the people of Saki on danger of alarming rate of the community transmission of the deadly Covid-19 otherwise known as Corona Virus and the need to avoid crowded gatherings.
The Governor of the state Engr Seyi Makinde earlier on Thursday morning twitted “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for fifty-six suspected cases came back POSITIVE. The cases are from Saki West (14), Oluyole (9), Ibadan North (6), Akinyele (10), Ibadan South East (5), Ibadan South West (4)”
“Ibadan North West (2), Atisbo (1), Saki East (1) Ido (1), Ona Ara (1), Ibarapa North (1), Egbeda (1) Local Government Areas. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 661.
The okere of Saki in a statement personally signed by him said ‘The Okere of Saki wishes to alert the generality of the people of Saki on the alarming rate of the community transmission of the deadly Covid-19 otherwise known as Corona Virus. It is known that at fourteen (14) persons have been confirmed to be infected with the disease.’
‘Notwithstanding the fact that Executive Governor of Oyo State has magnanimously eased the lockdown in public places and opened churches and mosques, the Okere advises our people to practise social and physical distancing of at least two (2) metres, washing of hands, personal hygiene and the use of face mask in public places such as mosques, churches, hospitals, markets, etc.The statement added
Oyo also recorded one death bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 9 in the state.
