FG FIRES TCN MD APPOINTS ENGR SULE ABDUL-AZEES IN ACTING CAPACITY
The Federal Government has fired the Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Usman Gur Muhammed, an engineer, in a major shakeup at the transmission stratum of the country’s power industry. Engr Sule Abdul-Azees has however been asked to take over in acting capacity as Managin Director. Minister of Power said the removal is with immediate effect.
Minister of Power,Sale Mamman said the removal of Mohammed is with immediate effect and that the decision has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The minister also announced the confirmation of four executive directors for TCN. “As parts of continuing measures to reposition and improve the performance of the power sector in the country, the honourable Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, hereby announces major changes at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN),” the statement issued by Special Adviser, Media and Communication, Office of the Honourable Minister of Power, Aaron Artimas, read. “Accordingly, the Managing Director of TCN, Usman Gur Muhammed, has been removed from office with immediate effect. He is being replaced by Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdul Azees as Managing Director in acting capacity.”
The newly appointed directors are: Engr. Victor G Adewumi, Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider; Engr. M.J Lawal, Independent System Operator; Ahmed Isa-Dutse, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; and Justin I. Dodo, Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services.The statement added.
