ENGR MAKINDE : THE MOST BENEVOLENT GOVERNOR –OKE-OGUN CONCIOUS GROUP
Oke-Ogun Conscious Group, has described Engr Makinde as the most benevolent Governor, to have ever govern the state with the intent of taken Oke-Ogun to the highest pedestal of developmental strides in recent time.
The Group described attempts by some unscrupulous elements that are bent on creating discord among the good people of Oke-Ogun against Engr Seyi Makinde as enemy of progress who never appreciates breathtaking developmental projects being unleashed on the region by the amiable governor.
A statement by the Group obtained by the GREATRIBUNETVNEWS stated ‘’The enemies of progress do not see anything good in the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde to Oke-Ogun people but rather he only parades Four Oke-Ogun people as figure heads in his cabinet, viz: Hon. Jacob Ojekunle (Commissioner for Agriculture), Hon. Niyi Farinto (Commissioner for Budget and Planning), Hon. Niyi Adebisi (Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives) and Hon. (Alhaja) Fausat Sarumi (Commissioner for Women Affairs).
‘This Schizophrenian people are blind to the relevance of the above named commissioners in the regime of Engr. Seyi Makinde and overall achievements of the administration in less than one year in office because they are yet to recover from the shock of the electoral defeat of 2019. They are no more relevant in the scheme of things and they are seeking all ways to be relevant at all cost, hence their shenanigan game of attempting to put the good people of Oke-Ogun against his Administration.
The people of Oke-Ogun in particular and Oyo State in general are blessed to have the type of Engr. Seyi Makinde as the Governor of the State. He is a thorough – bred Engineer with distinction, an urbane Administrator par Excellence, a dignified personality with integrity and an astute and erudite scholar. All these attributes put together makes the administration of the state seamless for him. It is not surprising therefore, that he records the following laudable achievement less than one year in office as it relates to Oke-Ogun:
Rehabilitation of Saki – Ogbooro – Igboho Road: Engr. Makinde led Administration did not only approve Saki-Ogbooro – Igboho road but has indeed released funds for its rehabilitation. The so called writers were alive during the 8 – year regime of their principal who failed to do it.
Prompt Payment of Salary: Civil and public servants in the state were already dying during the immediate past Administration of the State Governor due to irregular payment of salary. It is on record that the present Administration pays salary on or before 25th of every month since its inception.
‘Reinstatement of 100% of Salary Subvention to Tertiary Institutions: The Administration of their Principal, Senator Ishiaq Abiola Ajimobi nearly killed all the tertiary institutions in Oyo State under him. He abruptly stopped releasing personnel subvention to tertiary institutions on the ground that the institutions under reference should be viable and as such should be paying salaries of their staff. And he was aware that these institutions were not profit – making venture yet he stopped paying their salary. It took the intervention of almost all notable members of the society before he started giving them 25% of this subvention. As a result, staff of tertiary institutions were receiving 25% of their salaries. You can see how wicked and brutish these set of people and their principal were, when they lost election in February, 2019, he restored to paying 100% again of personnel subvention with a view to creating problem for the incoming government. But to God be the glory, Administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde not only continue paying the 100% salary of staff of the Tertiary institutions but he equally began to give them capital grant and money for accreditation which was not the practice of the previous administration. ‘’
‘Relocation of OYSADEP Headquarter to Saki: The Headquarter of Oyo State Agricultural Development Programme (OYSADEP) had been moved to Ibadan from Saki long ago before the present Administration. People of Saki and Oke-Ogun made frantic efforts to persuade the then Oyo State Government to see reason why it should be relocated back to Saki but to no avail. But Engr. Seyi Makinde is a listener, within six months of his Administration he promised to relocate it to Saki and before one year in office he redeemed his promise. ’
Re-Construction of Ibadan – Iseyin Road: The Administration is to be equally applauded for approving reconstruction of Moniya (Ibadan) Iseyin road. It did not only approve the reconstruction but he has even paid over 50% of the money needed by the contractor to do the reconstruction, hence it is not surprising that the contractor had moved various pieces of machineries to the site and work had commenced in earnest if not for outbreak of coronavirus that made the contractor to stop the work. How do we forget so easily? The entire people of Oke-Ogun did everything to beg the 8-year Administration of their principal to do it then but to no avail.
On the issue of administrative bickering and its attendant innuendos by a section of social media, on the perceived sour relationship between the Governor and his Deputy, the Group said there is no love lost between the Deputy and his Principal.
‘’Of all the Administrations in Oyo Stat, the Engr. Makinde led Administration give due recognition to the Deputy Governor. We are all living witnesses to how their principal ignonimouly treated and relegated his Deputy to the background. His Excellency, Adeyemo Alake. The old man was frustrated throughout the 8- year administration, Senator Ajimobi did not even deem it fit to give him the opportunity to appoint a chairmen for almost all the local government or local Councils development area. Under the present administration, Engr. Remi Olaniyan appointed most care-taker Chairman for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Oke-Ogun. Not only that, Engr. Makinde allows the Deputy Governor to represent him at the National Economic Council montly meetings and equally makes him well comfortable with good packages and attention. The office of the Deputy Govwrnor was equally renovated to meet modern outlook. This is the kind of respect and due recognition that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State gives to his Deputy, an indigene of Oke-Ogun region area of Oyo State.
The Issue of Okerete Border Market: The ignorant writers opined that the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives ought to have seen to the completion of Okerete Border Market under the present administration. They are myopic and bereft of ideas and happenings. The truth of the matter is that as at the inception of the present administration, there was no single file/record/document on Okerete Border Market in office by the time the immediate past administration left office yet lots of money were siphoned on the market. So, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives and the present Governor are starting on a new note from the scratch. They should have digged for information to know what is happening instead of unnecessary attack.
Fraud: The administration of their principal was riddled with fraud. Let us commend Engr. Seyi Makinde for his probity, integrity and transparency in his Administration. It may surprise you to know that Ajimobi – led administration claimed to have reconstructed Ibadan –Iseyin road, Oyo – Iseyin, road and a number of other roads in Oke-Ogun. What a monumental fraud can be more than that? Your Execelency Sir, your coldness attitude in digging out the frauds perpetrated by the lat administration allows for the unwarranted criticism your administration is facing. Please kindly look into that.
In conclusion, it is glaring that the earlier writers are the enemies of progress and their write-up does not represent the views/expression of the people of Oke-Ogun but rather their whimscal and wishful thinking. They are political pests and jobbers who have no direction nor ideology. Engr. Seyi Makinde means well for the people of Oke-Ogun and Oyo State in general and the reason he was able to achieve all of the above in less than one year in office. If the Commissioners from Oke-Ogun are: “ I concur, Sir.”, it will not be possible to achieve the above laudable achievements. So there is a number of auspicious budget for the good people of Oke-Ogun under Engr. Seyi Makinde administration and there is a good synergy among the Commissioners from Oke-Ogun as well as the Deputy Governor on one hand and good cooperation with the Governor on the other hand.
As a matter of fact most of the benevolent projects coming to Oke-Ogun this fiscal year are as a result of the direct efforts of Hon Adeniyi Farinto, as the commissioner in charge of budget.
‘’Decentralizing the Process of Budget Proposal: It is on records that Engr Seyi Makinde –led Administration decentralized the process of Budget proposal for the first time in the history of the state. This he did by visiting each of the three Senatorial District of the state for their input into the 2020 Budget.That of the Oyo North Senatorial District took place in Saki. The process allowed for the total inclusiveness and bottom-top approach to the budget. It is unprecedented and require commendation of the nascent Government.’
