RE: INVESTIGATION – DESPITE COVID-19 THREAT, SAKI PEOPLE TRAVEL THROUGH BORDERS, EXPOSE NIGERIA TO MORE CASES
We note with dismay recent report by Oyo insight alleging Sakiland and its border towns utter failure to observe the ongoing lockdown measures to nip corona virus in the bud.
We wouldn’t have bothered to dignify the author of the story with reply but for his lack of depth, substance and professionalism which he ignorantly exhibited.
It is on record that Saki complies with directives from all tiers of government to contain the spread of the virus, which explains why the pandemic found no hiding place in the land and its border towns.
How the author manages to fabricate a story to the effect that Saki town perpetrates illegal business in the face of the existing Saki COVID-19 Sensitization Group says much about his subterranean interest to deliberately paint the town black.
It also beats one how that the author closes his eyes to the efforts of the Sensitization Group in ensuring that residents of Saki complies with the directives to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The author’s allegation that Saki land turns to ‘pilgrimage’ site by all manners of foreigners is nothing but a cock and bull story bereft of credibility.
At no point foreigners have been allowed to enter Saki except pressmen and security personnel who go about to monitor the happenings around the town and its environ.
Besides, shops have been shut, schools have been put on hold and everything seem to be on a stand still with the security agencies were everywhere to enforce the order
Having the security of a town compromised is indicating that the town has a weak respect for law and order. Saki residents have always been seen to be law abiding and will never at any point endanger any lives by keying into unwholesome business transaction capable of putting their health to risk and menace.
While it is pertinent to have the interest of the health status of Saki dwellers at heart, one should be careful playing up non-factual event cum reportage about fictitious stories that do not in anywise exist.
Saki is currently peaceful and everything seem to be under control and strict adherence is being observed by indigenes of Saki town as we hope the pandemic should be eradicated from our dear state and Nigeria at large.
At this juncture,we advise our social media to do their comprehensively investigate their stories before putting same across to the public with a view to fostering responsible, responsible and value -adding media
